South Indian Actress Tapasee Pictures.
A 20-year-old from Ludhiana, Tapasee Pannu has already achieved in six months what most can’t in double that time. She has done various print ads for brands like Uni Style Image and Motorola and has also been featured on the cover of leading Delhi magazines. She is eagerly awaiting her soon-to-be-released Coke India campaign and her promotions as the Avon Face of the Year all through 2008. A member of Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe, this engineering student admits getting into modelling was not easy.
“I come from a typical Sikh family and the idea of getting into modelling didn’t go down well with my father and my grandparents. But after showing them the output of my work, their anger kind of mellowed down,” says Pannu. The reason why modelling is becoming increasingly popular among Punjabis, she feels, is because they like to make money and as this is a glamourous way of doing so, they opt for it. “However, one must always complete studies and have a fall-back option as models have a short shelf life,” she says.
